Advanced – Enabling SMS - Extended

This article assumes you have first reviewed ‘Enabling SMS – Basics’.

Though Clinic-Assist allows you to send text messages, included in the message will be a reference to Clinic-Assist as the sender. This is because we provide these services to you via our global 'Clickatell' account.

If you would like to use your own service through which to manage financials and enable your own sender ID, you will need to create your own Clickatell account and configure a payment plan.   To do this head to https://www.clickatell.com/

Once you have successfully created a Clickatell account, you will be provided with an authorisation code, a 74 character code similar to the following:

aQ0vuvapJKnQdlTDGpbWt_4zFhpBXilpacNF4x6QJX8ELgn.rZ9VOwiJcLyprumg7KJUQZ5LP8

You will also confirm an ID (e.g. My-Clinic).  This ID will be visible on your text messages.

As shown in the ‘Basics’ article, to configure SMS within Clinic-Assist, select ‘Setup’ from the Settings menu:

Click on the ‘Advanced’ tab:

Tick ‘Enable SMS’ and enter both your Auth Code and Sender ID.

Now when your patient receives a text message, it will appear with your ‘Sender Id’.

Additionally, since you will be using your own Clickatell account, the SMS cost detail in the ‘About’ screen will no longer be displayed.  You can check your usage, totals and finances through your Clickatell portal.
